Here at Nether Winchendon House we completely understand that many couples would ideally like to have their entire Wedding all at one venue and you can do this here at Nether Winchendon House.
You can choose to hold your Wedding Ceremony either in the lovely village Church of St. Nicholas, which is just a 2 minute walk from the house, or by having an ‘Exchange of Rings and Vows Ceremony’ here in the grounds, under the trees, or on one of our glamorous lawns.
If you choose to hold your 'Exchange of Rings and Vows Ceremony’ here then you would need to do the ‘legal’ part at one of the many official registry offices close by, a few days before your Wedding Day. Our beautiful village Church is just a 2 minute walk from here and it is now possible and very easy to marry in a Church outside of your local parish.
If you wish to have a Civil Ceremony for your ‘Official Wedding’ you could choose one of many local ceremony locations and then come to Nether Winchendon House and also hold a Blessing or an ‘Exchanging of Rings and Vows’ Ceremony in front of your family and friends. Sometimes the couple arrange for a red double decker bus to take their guests to the Registry Office from the venue and then come back on the bus with them, that’s really fun! Some couples have a private Registry Office marriage and come back in their Wedding car and just go straight into a wonderful Arrival Drinks Reception.
Many of our couples who decide not to have a Church Wedding, say their special and personal vows to each other here in such different places surrounding the house in the beautiful grounds - under the trees, or facing the river, in The Carriage Barn, in The Bridal Garden, on the metal bridge, on our newly restored Georgian stone bridge - whatever suits the couple best. There are so many beautiful spots for a ceremony!
Once you have chosen which location here you would use to say your vows to each other and to achieve what you personally want, the next step is to get legally married at a registry office a week or so before. In that way you have done the legal bit and got your certificate. At the Aylesbury Registry Office the cost to get legally married is as little as £46 plus the certificate cost. Then you would hold your Wedding Ceremony here in front of your guests at Nether Winchendon House, you can both even sign your own register, which has your special vows written in to it to take home and treasure. Guests would not even consider whether it was the actual legal part or not.
We have noticed that it is becoming increasingly popular for couples to get Officially married a few days before they come here for the day of their Wedding Reception. Some couples get married on a beach and have their honeymoon before they have their Wedding Reception and have a Blessing or an Exchange of Rings and Vows Ceremony in front of their family and friends here. Everything is now so fluid and we are able to help with every couples personal dream of how they want their unique Wedding to be.
